There have been quite a few companies that decide to outsource their projects to other countries, usually India, with great results. But there are a few that have had less than stellar, even abysmal reports about outsourcing to India, and they have been in the limelight, just like all negative press.
These companies usually have the same type of complaints. For example, they complain that the Indian companies hire people that are not qualified to do delicate work. This was a common observation among IT companies that outsourced their work.
Another company stated that Indian outsource workers frequently overstated their attributes on their resumes. One even claimed that it was an all-out lie! The virtual assistant that he had hired claimed to have had experience with a certain type of activity yet later on admitted that she had none – after she had gotten the job!
Yet another employer said that the team he hired would not do anything unless he told them to do something. “Lack of initiative” was the exact wording that was used.
However, a popular choice is still outsourcing to India. Why? Despite all the drawbacks, outsourcing to India makes sense. The citizens, for one, are highly educated and can learn very quickly.
With all the changes happening almost daily in the technological world, this attribute cannot be stressed enough. Virtual employees must be adaptable and the Indian employee is just that.
Another positive point for the prospective employer is the size of the labor market. There are so many people in India that there will be someone that they find that is perfect for the job. And if the person that they find quits? Again, there is always someone that can replace them. There are just too many people (the estimate was somewhere in the ten millions) that can fill the demand for jobs.
