Sharepoint Services are of great help to the employees as they allow them to work coherently, sharing various kinds of work information and business data’s. They are very effective tools that help to enhance your business services. These services help in collaborating among the team members to bring about better work results. They facilitate management of contents, implementing various business strategies and shares necessary information with the employees to help them work better.

sharepoint services was first released at the same time when Office XP came into the markets. They are a part of the Microsoft front page. They now run today on the version of Windows XP and Windows 2000. Later on a redesigned version called the Sharepoint Services 2.0 came up as an upgrade to the previous. The previous version also known as the STS stored the documents in files while the metadata’s were kept in the database. But in the upgraded version the database is used for storing both the documents and the metadata’s.

There is a kind of service called the software as a service which helps the various businesses reduce the cost of its functioning. These are built in the local area of network systems of the computers and functions behind the firewall and can be also activated over the internet. The SAAS can be enabled in your computers by your license provider by paying a certain amount of money. You pay as much as you use thus it is also called software on demand.

The importance of SAAS in today’s world

They help to minimize the costs of the various business functioning’s and establishments. They help various fields of works. They are of great help in the areas of billing, accounts, human resource management, and deskwork and in customer relations. If your company is a newly established one you need to invest heavily on these departments along with other infrastructure developments. But if you want to reduce the investments in the company’s infrastructure and use it for constructive growths then the use of software as a service becomes very useful.

They enable various kinds of commercial software to be available to all customers through the internet or through network based access as the monitoring is done by the licensor. And the charges of using these services depend on the users and its business.

The use of this service should not bring about any feeling of less responsibility of the company towards its sectors and their clients. Though they have a strong advantage where the cost of infrastructure can be curtailed but still the companies are required to own the quality of its applications. An important thing that needs to be taken care of is the security of its data’s and the information. All the data’s of the company are exposed to the providers.
