You must keep in mind that hair is part of the complete biological system of the human body. Being a system, dysfunctions in one part of the system can contribute to dysfunctions in other parts; chain reactions occur when one part of the body malfunctions, causing other parts within the system to falter. To maintain optimum health, it is best to maintain a healthy diet and regular exercise regimen. The human body is an amazingly complex and wonderful machine, but it cannot function without a supply of food. The nutrients in food are needed for energy, movement, heat, growth, repair, hair growth and sometimes reproduction. The body needs to be able to digest the foods it takes in so that it can be used in various ways. Vitamin supplements play a key role in the health of both hair follicles and skin. To keep the hair and skin on your head healthy the following 5 vitamins can be critical.
1. Inositol is also a member of the B vitamin group. It is a compound occurring in the brain, muscles, liver, kidney and eyes. In laboratory animals, a diet lacking Inositol produced baldness, but when the vitamin was added to the food of these animals, the hair grew back again. It was also observed that male animals lost hair twice as fast as female animals. The result of this experiment would suggest that males require a higher Inositol intake than females. An Inositol deficient diet can also cause eczema, a form of skin irritation.
2. Vitamin C is responsible for the development of healthy collagen, which is necessary to hold body tissues together. A vitamin C deficiency can cause split ends and hair breakage, yet this is easily reversible with an increase to normal vitamin C levels. Vitamin C can be found in foods such as fresh peppers, citrus fruits, melons berries, potatoes, tomatoes, and dark green leafy vegetables.
3. Hair loss is often triggered by hormonal disorders, reports the Dermatology Online Journal from the University of California at Davis. Vitamin D functions as a steroid hormone, preventing hormonal deficiencies and stimulating hair growth.
4. Folic acid promotes healthy cell growth which in turn produces healthy skin regeneration, and of course hair regeneration or hair regrow. Taking folic acid vitamins for hair loss prevention can not only greatly decrease your chances of experiencing hair loss to begin with, as well as help to prevent future hair loss. When male are deficient in folic acid, some men became completely bald! This is one of the best hair loss treatment.
5. Biotin often called vitamin H, is yet another B complex component. Biotin is a proven hair growth vitamin and a preventative to excessive hair loss. It appears to metabolise fatty acids. Fatty acids are a valuable growth factor in numerous processes in the body including the hair. Biotin is also seen as an aid in preventing hair turning grey.
6. Vitamin E is necessary to provide good blood circulation to the scalp by increasing the uptake of oxygen. Vitamin E is derived from foods such as green leafy vegetables, nuts, grains, vegetable oils, and most ready-to-eat cereals, which are fortified with vitamin E. Vitamin E deficiencies are rare in people in North America and Europe.
7. The B vitamins are known for their ability to soothe jangled nerves and lower stress levels. vitamin B12 is a necessary nutrient for proper nerve function, production of red blood cells and circulation to the scalp.
8. Vitamin A is plays a vital role in maintaining healthy hair, skin, and vision. But A word of caution, too much vitamin A can actually cause hair loss by increasing the sebum in your hair follicles. Sebum is a substance produced by cholesterol which in normal amounts is conducive to healthy skin and hair, but too much can encourage the growth of bacteria at the follicle level and thus actually cause hair loss.
