All About Website Purchase Agreements

There are thousands of websites coming up on almost a daily basis. There are also thousands of sites that deal in the purchase and sale of websites. This is where a website purchase agreement comes in. Generally purchase agreements are drawn up by lawyers who charge exorbitant rates. To save people from the trouble and the cost, now-a- days, there are websites that sell the website sales agreement. They can be downloaded from the websites on payment of a small price and can be altered and used to suit the need of the customer. It can be used both by buyers as well as sellers of websites or domain names.

Reasons for Having A Website Purchase Agreement

The obvious reason for having a website purchase contract is to ensure that the sale or purchase takes place in all its legality and there is no problem later on with ownership. An agreement gives legal protection as well as lays down the terms of purchase in black and white. This includes the terms of payment and the rates. They generally contain details of assets included and excluded from the sales. It also makes accurate maintenance of the books of accounts possible.

Having a valid website purchase agreement also makes it easier to resell it to another party at a later date if required. There will be no legal issues in such a case and all that requires is the drawing out of a fresh agreement to transfer the ownership. One thing the person selling an existing website has to look into is to find out what the site is worth and execute the sales deed accordingly. Having a readymade agreement also makes it faster to draw up and execute.

Generally, the website sale contract purchased online comes in template format. There will be two templates - one the agreement itself and the other the technical specification document. The technical specification document generally deals with such information as the name of the websites, usernames, host details, domain details, passwords, emails, login IDs and so on. It will have simple to follow instructions and easy editable text. Generally one, two or three or more drafts of the agreement may have to drawn up before the final one. The drafts can be drawn up in doc format and the final agreement can be sent to the buyer or seller in PDF format. Some companies also offer a sales invoice template with the package. This is used by sellers to invoice the buyers and works like the other templates with easy to follow instructions.

The best part is that since it's an instant download after payment if the purchase price through a safe portal.  There is no waiting for the CD or DVD to arrive by mail.

Of course like any purchase and sale, in case of websites also the purchase and the sale should be done only after gathering adequate information and also after considering the budget. The main point to note is that there should be no doubt regarding the drawing up and signing of a website purchase agreement. It is an absolute must and is the ticket out of legal problems that may arise in the future.
