The LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Chicago has some LEGOtastic events this June including a LEGO Cars 2 weekend to celebrate Fathers Day and LEGO Star Wars days towards the end of the month.
Celebrate Fathers Day with LEGO Cars weekend
It's a fast and furious start to summer as LEGOLAND Discovery Center Chicago hosts two LEGO Cars Weekends. The fun runs June 10-12 and June 17-19 and includes two weekends full of LEGO car-themed activities.
Guests at LEGO Cars Weekends are invited to perfect their skills in the pit with car-themed activities including Creative Challenges, Derby Races, LEGO Games, and, for younger builders, LEGO Traffic School where you can drive cars down the streets of LEGO City.
On Father's Day, June 19, dads are invited to take part in the fun with their kids at the first ever LDC Derby! Families can build their LEGO racer at home or create one on-site in the LEGO Cars Building Workshop. Expert Model Builders will be on hand to help dads and kids design their perfect car out of LEGO bricks. Teams will then race their cars against others on the track for a chance to win a number of great prizes.
"Building a LEGO car is fun for kids and the kids at heart. It's also a unique way to spend time with dad and let him know that he's appreciated," said LEGOLAND Discovery Center Master Model Builder, Daniel Morey. "We really want to shine a light on the importance of family and teamwork, and what better way to do it than with a little friendly competition?"
The battle continues at LEGO Star Wars Days at LEGOLAND Discovery Center Chicago
The Force is strong at a LEGOLAND Discovery Center Chicago as the Jedi, Droids and Clone Troopers return for three days of intergalactic fun to celebrate LEGO Star Wars Days. The legendary battle over MINILAND – a scaled down version of Chicago made out of LEGO bricks – continues as the Clone Troopers fight to keep the city safe from the destructive Battle Droids from Friday, June 24 to Sunday, June 26 from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.
"LEGO Star Wars Days has quickly become our most popular event of the season," said LEGOLAND Discovery Center's own Master Model Builder, Daniel Morey. "We have a lot of great new activities planned for the weekend, including a very special makeover of MINILAND that will capture the essence of a true Star Wars battle."
The intergalactic Star Wars weekend includes Star Wars themed Model Builder Workshops and opportunities to assist the Master Model Builder in a Yoda group build.
Life-sized LEGO Darth Vader and LEGO R2-D2 models will be on show to give guests the best photo opportunities in the galaxy. 1,000 clone trooper and battle droid minifigures ready for battle in MINILAND.
Activities will include a scavenger hunt to find ten characters hidden throughout MINILAND with the chance to win a family four-pack of Annual Passes and Star Wars Building activities with prizes and giveaways.
