Pearl necklaces are in high demand due to the quality of them and the way they look. This isn't the type of jewelry that is going to lose its appeal a short time after you purchase it. They never go out of style either so you can be confident you will always look great in them. Selecting the right pearl necklaces to add to your collection is important though. You want to be happy with them each time you go to put them on.

There are quite a few different lengths to choose from with pearl necklaces. If you want to accent the length of your neck then go with one that is longer. If you feel you have a long neck though and want to minimize it go with pearl necklaces that are closer to your neck.

Collar pearl necklaces are generally from 10 to 13 inches in length. They are often worn for going out at night but some women like to wear them during the day as well. They often have several strands on top of each other for a very nice overall appearance. If you don't like something that close to your neck a choker may be a better option. These are looser even though they are still close to the neck. Generally the length is from 16 to 18 inches.

The most common length of pearl necklace is known as the princess. This is from 17 to 20 inches in length. They work well for a casual night out but one where you want to look nice. They also work great for any formal occasion. The longest pearl necklaces are the opera with a length of 28 to 34 inches. It is customary for them to reach below the bust line.

Having several different necklace pearl items around can allow you to change your look. Don't underestimate how the size of the pearls as well as the length of a pearl necklace can do so. You can feel great about how you look when you wear a pearl necklace because they are a good match for any occasion. They are also a universal type of item that a person can wear no matter how old they are.
