Italians have always been known for their great food. They are most known for their very delicious pasta. But aside from pasta, they are also known for their very cold and delicious treats which they call Italian ice. If you want to try to make your own cold delights the Italian way, here are some recipes for you to enjoy.

Fundamental

Needed:

2 cups of water, 1 cup of orange, lemon, or pineapple 1 and ¼ cups of sugar, and a maraschino cherry to garnish

Procedure:

Mix sugar and water first and then use a saucepan to boil them. Make sure that you continually stir the mixture until you don't see any crystals of sugar anymore. Once sugar is completely dissolved, let it cool. Get the juice that you have prepared and then add it in the mixture gradually. After that, transfer it in a container then pop it in the freezer. Wait for about 4 hours. Make sure that you check it regularly and try stirring it until you see that it is completely frozen. Once it is frozen, you are now ready to serve the treat.

Fruit Juice

Things needed:

4 cups of distilled water. Tap water will also do. 2 cups of refined sugar or any type, 2 cups of juice of any flavor you like.

Steps:

Mix 4 cups of water and sugar in a saucepan. Put on top of the flame and let it heat up. Continually stir the mixture until the sugar crystals are completely dissolved. Then let it boil for about 5 minutes. Set aside and let it cool. Once it has cooled down, you can then add your juice and then put in the freezer. Then stir it occasionally until frozen.

Fruit Punch

What you will need:

1 bottle of fruit punch (best if chilled), 3-5 Italian Ice (of any flavor you love), 1 bottle of sprite or 7-up soft drink

Steps:

Mix the fruit punch and the sprite or 7up in a container. Then let the Italian Ice float on top and serve.

Lemon

What you will need:

1 pint of clean water, 3 large of ripe lemons, about 1/2 teaspoon of lemon peel grated, and about 3/4 pound of granulated sugar

Procedure:

Combine water, lemon peel and sugar in a saucepan and let it boil. Simmer uncovered for 10 minutes then remove from heat and set it aside. Squeeze the lemons and if there are seeds, remove them. Mix the cooled syrup and the freshly squeezed lemon juice. You can add sugar to suit your taste and add water to neutralize the acidity. Pop it in the freezer and occasionally stir it until it becomes fluffy.
