Pacman Jones Strikes Again (literally)

When you think the Cowboys have completed the trifecta of turning around troubled athletes, one of the projects has to go back to the ways that got him kicked out of the league in the first place.

We're not even a month and a half removed from Adam "Pacman" Jones' reinstatement, and he's already pounding on his bodyguard and wrecking a hotel bathroom in the process. Good thing they didn't have weapons at their disposal, or we may be talking about a homicide.

I love this quote from Jones after he was reinstated....

"It feels good man, you know, to get a second chance and I just have to take advantage of it. First and foremost, I don't want to let myself down, definitely my little girl down. I'm thankful for Jerry [Jones], the fans in Dallas and my teammates for believing in me. I need to keep doing what I've been doing to get reinstated, staying with myself and my teammates and staying away from those knuckleheads and just stay focused."

When is he going to learn that HE IS THE KNUCKLEHEAD? He doesn't need to change just his friends. He needs to change the way he thinks, acts, and reacts in situations in which he can get entangled in. It's your lifestyle, man. It's not your friends' lifestyles. When are we going to start taking responsibility for ourselves here?

How many people saw this coming?? I know I did from when he first opened his mouth. He acted like it was his friends fault, when he was under that same thuggish umbrella that they were. And granted that this incident was just a scuffle, he is being watched like a hawk because of this attitude he portrays and has gotten in trouble for. Is he trying to ruin a good thing for himself by continually getting caught up in the situations that he creates with this mentality? I don't know what this fight was about, but almost all confrontations can be avoided.

CONFLICT RESOLUTION... We all have our ways of solving problems. Jones is not capable of doing so in the morally sound manner that would keep his job and way of life safe. This is the one quality he lacks, and we've seen what it's gotten him so far. His way of solving things is a good pop across the face or a bullet lodged in someone's spine. It's like he has to find a way to show that he's the man, and he's not to be messed with. He still isn't able to humble himself and check his ego at the door.

Oh, he doesn't want to let his little girl down. Just a get-me-over speech that will get him through another day. Words are only words until you back it up. It wasn't "I won't let my little girl down", but rather "I don't want to." We know you don't want to, but the question is "will you?" He answered that here today, didn't he? He refuses to let that lifestyle go..... I don't want to go to work everyday, but I will because it's a vital part of me making a living for myself... Am I making sense? It's not about "I don't want to", but  "I will not" instead.

He doesn't want to let it go, so it may be time Jerry Jones starts thinking if he should consider letting Pacman go. He's representing one of the most storied franchises in sports, so there's no room for this constant nonsense. It took Tennessee 5-6 times before they got the picture. How long will it take Jerry or Roger Goodell before they realize nothing's changed?

Good thing his contract is incentive-based only.. Rewarding Jones to stay away from the behavior that got him in trouble away from the field. So, how's that looking so far? Ummm, I wouldn't bet against the contract being torn up before long.

I end on this. People wonder if this local station was right to broadcast the personal life of Pacman. Being right doesn't matter anymore in a negatively driven media today. If you do wrong, everyone's going to know about it. Someone will find out because witnesses love to be the bearers of bad news, especially to those willing to lend an ear and blow it up. Knowing that, Jones should have been a little more careful how he handled himself outside of his own premises.

Now what happens? We'll just have to wait and see.
