Each time you look for “how to stay mentally active” you will discover  variety of editorials, materials, techniques and approaches that are much too difficult to practice and not simple to bear in mind. In fact, as soon as you‘re finished reading the text, you won’t remember all the steps you have to take for some particular exercise. I’ve read a big number of the editorials and the most contain regular physical workouts, some nutrition diets and complex psychological games.

It’s great if anyone can find enough time and effort to incorporate these recommendations. But keep in mind that most of the people are too busy with work and family obligations. They could hardly find time to practice complex brain games. Some people won’t go in line with certain diet even if they are at risk of having a heart attack. So, here are few simple ideas how to maintain your  mind active.

Bring the opposite hand into play. In order to do that, you can switch your mouse to the other hand-side. By doing this, you are stimulating the relation among the two hemispheres of the brain. Clicking on the mouse with the opposite hand is something that will fit into your daily living without any big issues.

It would be especially easy to do if you are one of those who spend a lot of time in front of the PC. During the first few days you may feel weird and you will feel like stepping back at first, but keep trying. Don’t give up easily. After the period of adaptation, you’ll navigate the programs efficiently with the both hands.

You can try to achieve as many activities as possible using the non-dominant hand, but some of them might become even heavier after longer period of time.

Play games that require thinking. You don’t need to solve some complex math problems to get your mind in good shape. Playing hidden object games or activities as simple as crosswords or Sudoku can get you the needed influence on increasing your brain performance.

When possible, play video games or board games together with other people. By doing that you’ll stay socially active and intellectually engaged. Being in a competition while playing some time limited game will force you to focus and process information faster.
An important rule that you must remember, is the regularity of playing this kind of games. Try to incorporate these mind exercise into your daily routine. Even if you have a day full of activities, you can still catch a few minutes to make this exercise.
Don’t forget that the mind is a muscle that needs regular exercise. If you don’t keep it in shape, it won’t work very well. So, what are you waiting for? Start practicing these simple exercises.
