Poker has been around for a long time and with the internet connecting communities around the World it seems the popularity of Poker does not seem to failing. If you are not a gambler then Poker really isn’t for you although I’m sure there is many people who play the game for fun answers on a postcard. How did Poker start? And how did it come so popular? I will try to answer some of these questions below.

According to different sources we can trace back the origins back to 15th century Germany (although this is in much debate). Poker also closely resembles a Persian game called As Nas. This was more than likely passed down over the generations and as people travelled the game changed into other forms. It could also just be a coincidence that these games are similar. Another reason could be that people like to play games with different rules take a look at pool the rules are different depending on where and who you are playing.

The American’s claim that Poker was first played there. It is more than likely that Poker is a descendant of the Irish game called Pocca. If nothing else it has a similar name which is why it said to be a descendant of the Irish version. To be honest no one really knows and modern historians are rejecting the above explanations and have a theory of their own. They say that Poker could be a derivative of many other games that have developed over the years and the unique thing about Poker is that betting is involved no old game seems to share the betting aspect of Poker.

I’m sorry if you where reading this and looking for a definitive answer. I guess no ones know how Poker started. If you want my option I would say it did indeed evolve over the years from other forms of card games. However this is my option and is not based on fact.
