BBQ Outfitters opened in 1998 from a desire of Bob Carroll to get out of “high tech” and develop a fun business. Bob’s wife Stephanie came up with the name and Bob opened a tiny 800sq’ showroom close to downtown Austin, Texas. Bob was focused on selling “Big Green Egg” related products but a “sagely mentor” named Ron Harper taught Bob to continue his passion for the Big Green Egg, but also to provide more, especially in outdoor kitchens. Bob listened and the business grew.  The downtown store was expanded and a new store in Round Rock, Texas was opened.
