Last year’s figures shown that the only portion of the economy that actually expanded for the holiday shopping season is the percentage of sales performed over the internet, or ecommerce. That's it. And everything else was comparatively down.

If you're reading this and if you have an ecommerce-based business that should necessarily mean you've down well for yourself this past holiday season, correct? Of course, there is nothing could be further from the truth. There is no simple and directly proportional relationship between "I have a website that sells stuff" and "I make money on-line" If there is then everyone would be doing.

Very simple and straight-forward steps to assist you in driving traffic seem to be few and far between and for the good reason. What incentive do most of the people who knows this information have to reveal it to those that don't know? Most of the people will agree that, although such a thing would be a nice feather in their cap, but it doesn't put food on their table.

Let's look into some simple, straight-forward strategies for driving traffic.

DAO - Digital Asset Optimization:
What types of asset do you have currently on the web that you can utilize to your advantage? By assets means piece of content and creative you have control over and are extant on the web. This is a critical question that you should ask yourself since if you cannot answer this question in the affirmative; it simply means that you've got some work to do laying the necessary ground work for a marketing campaign.

Let say if you've got nothing out there, then before you can be as successful as you should be, you must first:

1. Join the conversation and start by simply responding in comments section of newspaper articles or blogs with your real name or your company's real name.

2. You should participate on a few social media networking sites. This will assists you in the process of building the foundation.

3. Also establish a Point Of View with respect to your particular topics of expertise and make that point of view known

4. You need to find journals and publishers of a like mind to your topic of expertise and make your presence known.

Establishing these fundamental building blocks simply provides you with the water you will require to make waves.

When you have assets you can leverage easily, then you should ask yourself "What are my

Goals."
