Not everyone appreciates the effort that went into making one of these films...

If you have ever watched an old movie you will have noticed actors had to be very versatile in those days. They had to sing, dance and act. Especially movies made during WW1, WW2 and the Great Depression. Musicals were predominant in those days. Movie makers wanted to cheer up the people and what better way than to make a joyous picture show filled with singing and dancing. There has not been a really good musical made since "Grease" in 1978. Although, some people did really enjoy the "High School Musical" movies, they were not as popular as "Grease."
Not everyone appreciates the effort that went into making one of these films. The elaborate numbers took a lot of talent to create and to teach to the actors. When you see the movie, it all looks so easy, but to create and then to coordinate all of the players was no easy task. Plus, you had to have actors that were able to learn fast. Of course filming was then and is still now, easier than putting on a live performance. With film, you can have retakes if someone messes up. No so with a live performance.
Even so, the general population seems to prefer modern movies. Action movies, love stories and especially comedies have theaters packed all over the country every weekend. The biggest money maker of all seems to be childrens movies. Taking the kids to the movies is a fun, inexpensive way to spend the afternoon. Plus, you do not have to admit to anyone that you actually wanted to see the film too. If you do not have kids, you can always borrow some. There must be some relative or fiend that has a child of the appropriate age.
Movies are also great for teens. A great first date venue. And you know they will be safe in the theater. If you have daughter, remember the days of the boy paying are over. It is only fair that they split the bill. Tool Shed Blueprints
