Most are rehashed copies of free SEO articles & built only for backlink purposes. Your website (& SEO article) needs backlinks but it MUST be optimized for the Search Engines. Search Engines look for specific things in both websites & articles. Give the Search Engines what they are looking for. Before writing make a plan of attack! Step 1: Target of your website / article What do YOU type into the Search Engine? It will be a phrase (a ‘long tail’) of 3 to 6 words. Do this yourself. Use the phrases best suited to your website that others would use in their Search Engine. You want to find the best phrase that will have the least amount of competition. These are your keywords which will bring you higher into the Search Engine rankings for that phrase. Step 2: Your Title Your Title MUST include the phrase you have selected as your SEO phrase (keywords). Step 3: Something useful The first rule of website SEO & article writing. Your aim : always create content that is useful & interesting for human readers beyond today. Forget about your keywords initially – you will optimize (rewrite for SEO) later. Step 4: SEO, Search Engine Optimization Go back & look at your article. Search Engines recognize variations in sentences so its not necessary to repeat the ‘exact’ phrase throughout. Use a list of semantically related words keeping 1 or 2 as a constant Step 5: Do NOT over- optimize Over-optimizing methods can hurt your website rather than help you in the long run. DON’T: Repeat main keywords repeatedly in the body of the article to increase the keyword density DON’T: Use bold & italic repeatedly on the main keywords of the page DON’T: Create footer links with optimized & unnatural anchor texts pointing to internal pages DON’T: Get backlinks from low quality sources (e.g., web directories and dofollow blogs) with optimized & unnatural anchor texts DON’T: Get too many backlinks with the same anchor text DON’T: Exchange or buy links from unrelated websites If you really need help, may I suggest the guys at http://getascripter.com for ALL your website and article requirements.
