Free back links aren't actually free at all. If you resent paying money you must invariably invest your time obtaining them.
This is because quality without promotion doesn't do anyone any good, especially for your business. And a thorough promotion campaign ensures strong market presence.
Creating attractive content or just simply a cool site that draws social attention is far more effective then the classic link chase powered by blatant comments and hype-packed signatures in forums.
You're probably well acquainted with the classic link sources but in this article I'll try to broaden your perspective with a few more pieces to the puzzle:
1.Alternatives to classical content syndication
2. Under-the-radar methods for getting backlinks from independent websites
3. Social media platforms
1. Diversifying Content Syndication
The hardest part in link building is not so much the research faze as it is getting the counterpart to react positively to your proposal.
An effective knock on the door is to make your writing services and expertise available to the other marketer.
To prove your expertise, consider rendering a fragment of the future article. This shouldn't be a discarded advice due to the fact that today's web content is ninety percent repackaged information.
If you lack writing skills think of hiring a ghost writer.
When lacking even basic inspiration, thoroughly rewrite some of your previous work. This builds additional relevancy for your site and exposes past (but ever green) content to new readers.
The main reason to alternate content distribution with other private websites is mainly because article and press release directories fall short in areas like:
> Long time for approval and factual indexation by the search engines,
> Little to no exclusivity with hundreds of writers fighting to direct attention towards their work,
> Ephemeral existence for the gross of ADs.
Of course there are a handful of powerful article directories out there that deliver traffic right from the first day but working with the large mass can sometimes mean wasted effort.
As a rule of thumb publish your content on websites with an Alexa ranking below 100.000 and at least toolbar PR 3, depending on your own. Another content marketing tip: see where big dogs of your industry publish content and appropriate their habits.
2. Making testimonials for free back links
Testimonials are almost invariably followed by a back link. If you happen not to receive this small bribe, simply take back your praiseworthy comment.
Also testimonials can be translated in reciprocal promotion within an established marketing partnership.
Don't ever make unrealistic or unverified affirmation especially on little know products that don't originate from the top marketers.
The best position you should adopt is to write impressions about products you personally use or consume.
3. Social platforms as a trusted link depot
Social bookmarking sites are an easy-picking source for free back links, granted that you don't "succeed" in getting you accounts canceled for promoting exclusively your own content.
The top social bookmarking platforms have strict rules regarding abusive behavior, but this benefits you in terms of fast indexing by search engines and link juice or authority as they're well regarded by Google, Yahoo and MSN.
Two very powerful, content driven social platforms to be used are HubPages and Squidoo.
As a matter of fact, if you're just launching a new website and want to promote it through innovative, quality content, you should publish some pieces - or rewritten versions - on these two platforms, as the chances of getting in the first five positions in Google's SERPs are much higher then with your young website.
If you consider launching your own bookmarking platform using open source software like Pligg and Ning, forget it because they don't get indexed properly. Also if you use automation in bookmarking content, filter them out.
