Why You Need Content

A main priority you should have as a webmaster is that you will want to ensure that your website has sufficient relevent content. This is a great ethical and "safe" way to build your pagerank and your traffic.

Building by adding content is important because you are staying staying away from over-optimizing your pages, heavy reciprocal linking and the over excessive use of a single search phrase to get good results. There are some solid sources of top flight content out there. You may need a lot of content for your site, such as an article library, or you may need less content while requiring more frequently updated content. This could include, say, a blog or website diary, image archive, or something similiar. If your site has an especially modest function (a small town kite shop site), then you may need relatively little in the way of content. You will essentially just want an online storefront with few bells and whistles.

As far as your web content goes, you can rarely have too much. An in-house example of content for you site is the archiving of your previous newsletter articles. It is important to provide the Search Index sites with loads of content since engines that do not provide relevant results will eventually fade(remeber www worm anyone?) So give them what they need and you will be rewarded with good search engine rankings.

The great thing about content is that it can do many wonderful things for your website. A content-rich site will encourage search engine spiders to visit repeatedly. A resource-rich site has more pages which have the potential to rank for related keyword phrases as well as offer more entry points to web searchers. If you need to add whole pages of content to your site, then adding articles could be ideal for you. There are more than a few sites which contain free-for-reprint articles, such as clickforcontent.com and articleresponder.com. What is cool about these is that you can look through their archives at your leisure and find just the right article(s) for your site theme. Whether it is about banking, boating or volleyball, you should be able to find a good fit. In addition to using articles from these content directories, you can also post some of your own if you have previously written some for your site and/or newsletter, and link it back to your site. Because they continue to be circulated by various sites, and the webmasters either copy them or link to them, you will find that this can create a link building program that can be put on autoship pilot. This is called 'viral marketing' and it works beautifully because you create one-way links to your site on a page with related content while at the same time establishing yourself as an expert in your chosen field. It seems that when a search engine spider visits your site and follows all of it's links, it determines the structure of the site from it's content links. If your site is considered to be a content-heavy site then the relevency of the site is increased substantially. In addition to articles, you may also want to add additional types of free content to your site from a site like bravenet.com or to AaronsFreebies.comand There you can obtain free guestbooks, free message boards, guestmaps, freeware plus e-mail forms. Guestbooks and forums are very strong content since they are updated by your visitors on a regular basis in a random manner. You can get a free search tool for your site from websquash.com, among others. lecktronix.com can provide you with free web templates and clipart as well as other site content such as horoscopes and tutorials. while freesticky.com provides free message boards, News headlines, Cartoons and Jokes, Stock Tickers and Weather reports. Good content is essential good search engine positioning and plenty of returning visitors. The saying "Content is King" has never been more true.
