How Have Apps Changed The World & How We Access Information? - Many people associate the word app with the brand Apple. However, mobile applications or apps for short have been around for much longer. In fact, one of the world's most popular mobile apps, Snake, was being used by millions of people way back in the late 1990s. Despite this, it has only been within the past decade that apps have truly developed, and they have now completely changed the world and how we access our information but is this in a positive or negative way?

For those of us who use a range of different mobile or technological devices on a daily basis, this is 100% positive. We now live in a world where the majority of us are always on the go and often have our heads buried deep into our smartphones, tablets and Kindles. Smartphones in particular though, are a staple item for many of us. Because of their importance now, all manufacturers - such as Apple, BlackBerry, Samsung and LG Mobiles - are producing smart phones that are capable of running several apps at the same time. What's more, theyr'e getting even more extravagant too, with lg mobiles recently launching their first designer phone for Italian fashion house, Prada.
You really can get an app for everything nowadays too, and they range from weird and wacky, to truly wonderful. At the top of the list for many people is the addictive game, Angry Birds. This has got to be one of the most popular apps of all time, as millions and millions of people have downloaded it since its creation. It? not just games though, as you can now get all your social media apps on your mobile too, for sites like Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and Tumblr.
You can also get apps for news, weather and organisational purposes, as well as for finding handy money saving vouchers. On top of this you can even check your bank balance, book tickets, and chat to friends from all over the world. If that? not enough, you can also download apps that monitor your sleep patterns, and even ones that can measure your heart rate! So as you can see, absolutely everybody is catered for.
Despite all this, it isn't a positive thing for everyone, as many people believe that this kind of technology has created a society in which people rely on materialistic objects to get by, and that our face-to-face communication skills will eventually become non-existent. The development and popularity of apps has also seen prices for smart phones rise too, with BlackBerry mobile prices and Apple prices increasing due to their advanced capabilities.
Apple and BlackBerry Mobile prices aren't the only thing to rise either, as overuse of mobile devices has recently been linked to an increase in modern day health problems such as insomnia, anxiety and even certain cancers. With many of us leading such hectic lives though, it can be hard to switch off, and most of us need these devices and apps to run our businesses or keep in contact with clients and colleagues.
