When you're planning a vacation, one of the easiest ways to spend far too much is to pay full price for your airfare. Another thing you must do when in Venice is to visit the surrounding area of Veneto - Venice is the capital city of this Italian region. You might not have time to visit Verona, of Romeo and Juliet fame, but you should visit Vicenza.

Venice is a city well connected to the rest of the world, and there is cheap flight to Venice, Marco Polo Airport, which is located conveniently close to the city, from all over the world. You can get to Venice from the airport either by boat or by road. The Treviso Airport is another landing point when you are visiting Venice, but it takes an hour to get to the city, so Marco Polo Airport is generally a better option, and particularly if you are traveling with small children who will be fatigued by a long plane journey.
