Not too long ago Heathrow Airport set up a new team to try and improve the shopping experience at each of the airport’s four active terminals. As you already know shopping in the duty free area of the Departure lounge is a great way to pass the time while you wait for your flight. The Journey Team at Heathrow has made a number of improvements to the shopping experience and has, as a result, scooped a major award at the Frontier Awards 2010 in Cannes.
This travel industry award recognised the fact that the Journey Team at Heathrow Airport has made such big leaps in improving the retail shopping experience at the airport. The team consists of 55 people, who speak a total of 39 languages, and who oversee the development of fresh ideas such as ‘Shop & Collect’ and ‘Reserve & Collect’, both of which are efforts to make buying goods from airport retailers a little easier.
The Journey Team has also made it possible for passengers to transfer their shopping between terminals, and this highly skilled group of individuals are continuing to make improvement to the airport shopping experience. In fact Heathrow says that the Journey Team has helped retailers at the airport make millions more in addition sales.
Heathrow is the world’s largest hub for international flights. It stands to reason then that the facilities inside Heathrow, including the shopping experience, as well as outside Heathrow including Heathrow Airport hotel, are top class and capable of attracting the most discerning of travellers.
