The Tennessee boyband Kings of Leon
throughout their exceptional music career have rendered a total of
five chartbusting albums. Right from Youth and Young Manhood
in 2003 to Come Around Sundown in 2010, the Kings have showed
off their outrageous transformation from Garage Rock to Alternative
Rock.
Their initial album Youth and Young
Manhood could be considered as a desperate attempt to get
recognized and proved that Followill brothers are worth it, yielded
good fruits. The band’s influence of The Strokes and Lynyrd Skynyrd
in their first album was pretty seen. Youth and Young Manhood
is a perfect blend of the Kings’ Southern roots and garage rock. It
was released in the UK and alternatively in US, where it failed to
attract modern listeners and thus sold only 100,000 copies. Although,
Youth and Young Manhood was declared as ‘one of the best
debut album of last ten years’ by NME.
The next year, Kings rendered their
second as Aha Shake Heartbreak, which was specially targeted
for their international audiences. This was again based on similar
lines as their previous release, though this time three of its
singles rose to Top 10 in the UK.
Because of the Times was
Followill Brothers’ third release, which was number 1 on English
and Irish charts and scored number 25 at European charts. Despite
being Kings’ fastest selling album in the first week of its
release, most of the music publications rated it as an
‘experimentation’ and even ‘epic-fail’. However, the album
contained hit singles including ‘Fans’ and ‘Charmer’.
In 2008, Only By The Night was
released. This was the Kings’ fourth studio album and thus a lot
more was expected from the Southern rock band members. And so, Kings
of Leon delivered what they were supposed to. Both Use Somebody
and Sex on Fire emerged as the Kings’ hit singles that
achieved peak positions on the music charts. The latter track is the
band’s most successful track right up to the moment. Revelry,
Notion and Crawl not only gained domestic popularity, but
even internationally were loved by Kings’ fans.
Their latest Come Around Sundown,
a 2010 release is a good fruit of the Kings’ hardwork. This one is
more of loosening-ups and shows signs that Kings are now getting used
to their fame and recognition and enjoying the fact. Come Around
Sundown is again based on their initial Youth And Young
Manhood, though conveys the chilled-out side of the Followill
brothers.
Not only is their superb work evident
in albums and music videos, but onstage too they know how they are
supposed to treat their fans. If at all, there’s a Leon fan in you,
don’t forget to grab the opportunity of meeting your favorite band
up close and personal. So, book your Kings of Leon tickets
well in advance for their ongoing tour and get to see them
watching perform live.
