Mamma Mia celebrated its 14th anniversary in London following which it commenced its 15th year run at West End. Continuing the celebrations, Mamma Mia gets its 200,000 fan in Facebook and 10,000 followers in twitter.
Based on Catherine Johnson’s story, Mamma Mia has been directed by Phyllida Lloyd. The musical commenced its London journey at the Prince Edward Theatre in 1999. After enjoying five years of success there, it was transferred to the Prince of Wales Theatre. The musical continued its run at the Prince of Wales until it was transferred at the Novello Theatre in September 2012.
An ensemble cast that has been presenting the Mamma Mia show London before theatregoers include Helen Hobson (Donna Sheridan), Joanna Monro (Rosie), Kim Ismay (Tanya), Gary Milner (Sam Carmichael), Neil Roberts (Harry Bright), James Gaddas (Bill Austin), Charlotte Wakefield (Sophie Sheridan), Andreas Gyllander (Sky), Abiola Ogunbiyi (Ali), Tasha Taylor Johnson (Lisa), Steven Oliver (Pepper) and Liam Doyle (Eddie).
The musical comedy is accompanied by some of the greatest ABBA songs. Along with the title track, it include ABBA numbers like Does Your Mother Know?, Dancing Queen, Super Trouper and Take A Chance On Me.The show has music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus and choreography by Anthony Van Last.
The musical takes audiences at the Novello Theatre for a tour to the picturesque islands of Greece. The show revolves around a mother and a daughter and some interesting moments of their past. A visual delight, the musical is suited for audiences of all genres.
