19 FEBRUARY 2010 / OZFREEONLINE.COM CLASSIFIEDS / There are a lot of job ad websites on the net today. However, you can’t always be sure of their veracity. Because free classifieds are so easy to post on the web, you should always remember to choose only reliable and trusted classifieds. This way, you will be able to avoid scammers. It is also a good way to avoid annoying spam messages in your mailbox.
There are a few things to remember when looking at job ads. For example, beware of job ads that are too showy. Although they may attract your attention, job ads with too many graphics, in all caps, or have fonts that are too fancy and colourful. They are designed to attract your initial attention. However, it is a sign that the person who posted the ad is not at all professional. It is also good to take not of grammar and punctuation. You can usually tell how professional the ad is by looking at the correctness of grammar and punctuation
Keep in mind that when an offer seems too good to be true, it usually is. This is why you should always do background checks on all of the ads you find interesting. Try asking around to see if other people have an idea what the company/job is about. You can also look at the phonebook or ask the phone operator if such a company exists. This is to verify that the poster is real and authentic. This is a way to protect yourself against scammers who only want your money. Also, it is a good thing to remember that you should never give out money. If the one who posted the ad is asking for money to get you a job, it is most probably a scam. If that is the case, make sure to contact local authorities right away.
The most important thing to remember when looking at classifieds is to be smart. Educate yourself if something interests you; don’t just plunge into anything. You can’t always be sure of the authenticity of the advertisements online, so it’s always a good idea to do a lot of research.
