There are few things that sterilize as well as ozone and having an ozone generator for home use is becoming more and more popular. Before you purchase a unit of your own, it is important to understand ozone, evaluate your needs, and find a reputable vendor. You can use ozone generators to sterilize air, water, and other items by researching different models and their recommended uses.
Understanding Ozone
Ozone, or O3, is a naturally occurring compound of three oxygen atoms. The form of oxygen that you breathe is O2 and is the state that the element prefers to be in. The extra oxygen atom will usually break off and attach itself to odors and other things in the air. When enough oxygen attaches itself to these things they are destroyed. This process is what makes ozone very good at sterilizing spaces. Professional cleaning crews will usually have an ozone generator to help them mitigate the airborne effects of mold and other allergens, leaving your home significantly cleaner than it would have been without the units. That being said, having an ozone generator for home use can have its benefits as well.
Evaluating Your Needs
Once you know how ozone can work to increase your health, it is time to evaluate what your needs are in a home unit. If you have allergies and live in a small home, then a smaller unit would be better than a large one. Many of these home units are rated as safe to use, for short periods, when the space is occupied. However, it is safer to set the generator to run for a specified time and leave while it is in use. Some of the side effects of over exposure to ozone can include headaches and the irritation of throat, eyes, and nose. If you are a landlord with many units or own a large home or office space, then you may need a bigger ozone generator to meet your output needs. Not all ozone generators are used for sterilizing air, however, some can be installed to purify water in swimming pools and spas.
Finding a Vendor
After determining what your needs are it is time to find a vendor for your generator. Sometimes, in researching what types of generators are out there, you can easily find the right make and model for your needs and be able to search for licensed vendors in your area. Matching your needs to the products and services offered by the vendor is the best way to get the units that you need for a price that you can afford.
Having an ozone generator for home use can take on many different forms. You can find units designed to help sterilize air or water and even some specifically designed to help with furniture. It is important to understand that ozone can be hazardous if the proper precautions are not taken and reading all of the manufacturer instructions is the best way to stay safe. By making a list of your needs for your units you can best find the make, model, and vendor to help you. You can learn more about the use of an ozone generator for home applications with a little research.
