High-quality wines are produced all over Italy, and the region Veneto, with its numberless wines that are well-known all over the world, is not an exception.

Everybody knows that wine is one of the most
appreciated Italian products abroad. You might also know that Veneto is one of
the Italian regions where the wine culture is deeper-rooted. From Prosecco to
Amarone, many wines were born in this region, have then arrived to all the other
Italian regions and went over the Italian borders to tickle the palates all
over the world.
Certainly there is a deep relation between wine and Veneto, a
relation that does not only come from the numberless wineries that fill the
region, but also from the peasant culture of the region, which seems to have
penetrated into the collective memory of all the inhabitants of the region. For
the inhabitants of Veneto drinking an “ombra” (meaning shadow – this is how a
glass of wine is called in Veneto) in someone’s company in a typical tavern or
at some friend’s means sharing a part of their culture and habits with other
people.
If the culture of wine in Veneto is still handed down
to younger generations, this is also due to the huge wine heritage that this
region has, a heritage that has become a pride exactly like other peculiarities
of this region that have made it famous in the world, from art to nature.
The
wines that are produced in Veneto are numberless and each one is different from
the other ones: from red to white wines, from sparkling to still wines, wine
production in Veneto is really very varied and wide. No matter the type of
match you are looking for and no matter the occasion: in any case you can be
sure that you will certainly find a suitable wine from Veneto.
Veneto, which has the primacy in Italy as far as the
number of DOC wines is concerned, can be divided into three wine zones: the
zone of Verona and Lake of Garda, the zone of Soave, Berici Hills and Euganean
Hills, and the zone of Treviso and Piave. To the wines produced in the zone of
Garda belong Bardolino Superiore, which is realised with typical vines,
especially with native vines: corvina, rondinella and molinara. Another very
famous wine produced in this area is Amarone della Valpolicella.
In the second
zone wines like Trebbiano di Soave, Pinot Bianco and Chardonnay are produced.
If you head to the province of Vicenza, you arrive in the zone of Gambellara,
which is famous for the production of Recioto and Vin Santo, and in Breganze,
where Torcolato is produced. Red Tocai is a typical product of the Berici
Hills, while Euganean Hills are famous for wines like Moscato fior d’Arancio
and Serprino. The third zone, in the province of Treviso, is especially
well-known for Prosecco di Valdobbiadene, while some of the most important
wines in the zone of Piave are Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Verduzzo.
With this variety and richness of high-quality wines,
no wonder that the culture of wine is so deep-rooted in the region Veneto!
