How many times you have forgotten the name of your client during some important meeting?  How often you have difficulties to remember essential facts?  If you find yourself too many times in these kinds of situations, don't worry. There are some things that you could do in order to keep the brain active. Check the following list.

Try learning 10 new words per day

When you have free time, take a dictionary and pick 10 words that are unfamiliar to you. Check their meaning and try to memorize the words. If you are studying a foreign language, choose 10 words that you want to learn.  As you force the brain to understand the "unfamiliar" words, you impact on making new connections between your brain cells. These new connections optimize the brain function, which is essential for being the best that you can be.

Interacting with other people

Interacting with other people can have a positive impact on your brain function.  According to the study that has been made by Harvard researchers, the people who had social interactions were less likely to suffer from memory loss then those who didn't have social interactions.
Social interaction is not measured only by how often we go out with our friends. It can be measured by how often we talk on the phone with our family, relatives and friends. If you don't have much free time to go and visit your friend, try to call him or chat with him on Facebook or Twitter.

Play online games

If you want to stay mentally sharp, you have to give your brain a workout. One of the best ways to do this is to play online games that put you against the time. When you have a limited amount of time to accomplish the main task, your mind is forced to think fast. Even there are many online games that can give your brain a workout and put you against the time - I think that hidden object games are perfect for this purpose. They are fun, most of them have interesting story and offer solving a different puzzles.  Just be careful – these games can be so addictive.

Meditate

The brain needs some time to get off the everyday worries. Doing a meditation may give you possibility to clear your mind. So, try to spend 5 minutes to relax and meditate. I'm not saying that you should sit on the floor with your legs cross out. It would be enough if you just close your eyes and focus on the breathing. If you find that some thoughts are interrupting your meditation, just say “no” to them. Cut them off.  Focus only on the breathing.

Try to use any of these techniques to boost your brain power. After a while you'll start to notice some positive changes in your mind.
