Diabetes is is more common than ever before. For examples you only need to look at your own social circle. Diabetes most likely is affecting at least on of them. If not, then there is probably at least one person who knows or is related to someone who has diabetes. While it is very common everywhere, it is incredibly so in the western world. The types of diabetes are aptly called Type 1 and Type 2. Type 1 is insulin dependent. At any point, you can develop type 1 diabetes. Type 2 is also called adult onset diabetes because it occurs during adulthood; those diagnosed with it are not insulin dependent. Let's discuss some of the major causes of this condition.
Stop drinking if you drink often! Older men should avoid excessive alcohol consumption as it can lead to diabetes. Alcohol and its empty calories and lots of fat can adversely effect all the different parts of your body. Liver function is not the only body part affected by alcohol. Alcohol can also raise your cholesterol levels. Drinking heavily over long periods of time can cause high blood pressure and also diabetes. A glass of wine a couple of times a week won't hurt you. Spending a few hours drinking every night, however, can be very harmful.
If you have a problem with how much you drink you should seek treatment.
How much moving around or excercise do you get? Scientists now know that a sedentary lifestyle can contribute heavily to whether or not a person develops diabetes. What does this mean? It means you need to get up and move around! You need to do at least thirty minutes of excercise per day. This excercise can be high or low intensity. You don't have to run a marathon to stave off diabetes, even just around the block can be enough. This is one of the diabetes causes that is the easiest to control. So, is there a reason you're still sitting there? Go, Go Now, See the sites, walk a bit.
Your chances of developing Type 1 diabetes are also affected by your ethnicity. Northern European descendants are at a higher risk of developing type 1 diabetes. It hits people of Finnish and Sardinian descent the most. After these two groups, the next most susceptible groups are African Americans and Hispanic Americans. Those of Asian descent have shown incredibly low risk of developing diabetes. This is one factor that you have no control over. After all, it isn't like you can change your ethnicity just because you're trying to avoid one of Type 1 Diabetes' causes.
Diabetes can occur due to many different things you can and cannot manage. Causes, such as genetics, gender and heredity are things you have absolutely no control over. Other factors, such as high blood pressure or diet are things that you can manage, entirely. One of the better ways for you to keep the diabetes causes from taking over is to maintain the best health you can. Even the littlest choices, like what you snack on in the afternoons can be a genesis in whether or not you end up with diabetes. Be sure to maintain your healthiness as best you can and hopefully you'll be just fine with nothing to stress over..
