The one thing you can be sure abut when it comes to international movers is that they will try to hook you for as much as they can, so you should be careful about the kind of contract you sign. Before signing anything, look over your contract and make sure that whatever services you discussed have been included for the price that they were agreed upon. If something is missing you can rest assured that when you try to argue your point later on, you will have to pay to have it restored. They will arrange for your belongings to be packed, loaded, transported to the port or airport, shipped, unloaded at the next port or airport, transferred to the next carrier and finally unloaded at its final destination. These moving companies will also arrange for your shipment to be cleared through customs and will arrange to cover any duties levied on it.

If you do not need such turnkey service from your international movers then you can always opt to choose only those services that you need. If you want to reduce your workload significantly you can ask them to pack for you. However, if you do not mind doing some of the heavy lifting then you can save on that service by packing your belongings. Should you wish to do your own packing then you can always request boxes and wrapping materials from your overseas removals supplier. Just bear in mind that if you are planning an international relocation then you might have no choice but to let your moving company pack for you or run the risk of finding yourself without damage or theft insurance coverage on your goods.

There are a number of services offered by international movers. What you choose to sign for will reflect your budget restrictions, your capacity for handling prep work and your willingness to do a lot of the running around yourself. In the end, you will manage to find what works best for you.
