When the Bright House 2010 Clearwater Super Boat National Championship Festival sails into Downtown Clearwater and Clearwater Beach October 1st through 3rd, the economic boost the area hopes to receive from the “throngs of fans” migrating to the area is predicted to help out local businesses during a traditionally dry season of tourism. But the Bright House 2010 Clearwater Super Boat National Championship Festival will take one step further in helping out the community – all the proceeds from the event will be donated to three local charities.

The benefiting charities are:

• The Clearwater Community Sailing Center – An organization with the mission to provide safe, enriching and affordable sailing opportunities to local residents and visitors, including youth, seniors and the disabled for the enjoyment and benefit of the entire community

• Sailability – A non-profit which enriches the lives of people with any type of disability, the elderly, the financially and socially disadvantaged by providing affordable, accessible sailing activities and education to children and adults of all ages and abilities, focusing on community integration to improve the quality of life for all involved.

• The Make a Difference Fishing Tournament - A non-profit organization dedicated to helping handicapped children through fishing tournaments and other programs that facilitate the involvement of handicapped children in marine education and recreation.

Last year, Super Boat brought an estimated 60,000-plus people to Clearwater, and made an estimated impact of $5-6 million on the local economy, without spending a penny of taxpayer’s money.

Passes for the VIP race experience are available for purchase for an adult admission price of $100 per person and $25 for children 16 and under through the Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Clearwater Beach Chamber of Commerce.

Not only will ticket holders be treated to VIP viewing on Race Sunday, VIP parties throughout the weekend and other perks, they will be contributing to the improvement of the community.
