Exactly what Surf Equipment does a beginner Need?
In the event that you are a surfing newbie you should think of borrowing the surf gear from your buddy or renting it. Never buy expensive products available everywhere and continuously advertised. The crucial reason why we are saying this is the fact that there is a chance you would not like surfing. You don't want to buy expensive wet suits and a big expensive board if you are not going to use them. You should also think about the fact that a beginner must never use a shortboard and buying the longboard just for learning purposes can be a waste of money.
When you just start learning to surf the most important surf equipment needed is a big board. One board, larger than 8 feet is preferred. A foam longboard basically guarantees that you can easily catch waves and you do not get hurt in the process. Size is important when you are just starting out.
If you think you should get a wetsuit you should probably take a look at your budget. They don't come cheap. You may want to first take a trip to the beach and talk to some local surfers in the area to see if a wetsuit is actually needed. If the water temperature is normally cold then a wet suit is definitely worth the money. If the water is warm, then a good pair of board shorts will work just fine. If you enjoy surfing and start surfing for long periods of time then a wetsuit will probably be a good investment
Now that your surf equipment includes the board and possibly a wetsuit you will not need much more. One good surfboard leash can be considered. If yo do not want to rent a board you might also want to buy surf wax for your new board. The surf equipment that is usually recommended by most people is just optional. You can look at a surf shop to see what else you could buy but this is something that you will do as time passes. Once the starter surf equipment is purchased you will not need much more.
After a long day of surfing you'll be heading home. When you get there you'll need a place to store your longboard. I recommend you get a set of surf board racks to protect your board. A good set of surf racks can make all the difference in keeping your board looking new and help it avoid getting damaged.
