People these days are multi-tasking. They do not spend hours on the TV, even if they do, they tend to change the channel every time the ad appears. The inclusion of video on demand, just trims the ad away from the program slot and people are more than happy to have that. The viewers might be happy, the question is how happy are the advertisers and the marketers. Over the years they have used television as their best choice of advertisement. Now this has become the less unreliable advertising media.

Well, as one door closes, another door opens. The new term that has hit the market is known as the digital marketing. Experts think that this is the future of the marketing world. Here are some of the reasons.

• People spend too much time on the social networks
• The ratio of time spent on the internet is increasing vs. time spent on TV
• The TV is also itself now on the internet
• People read the newspapers and magazines over the internet
• Listeners listen to internet radio, more than the traditional radio

People actually spend most of their online time on the social networks. They have become just an addiction to the people and marketers target them more than ever. At Social network people are easier to target as they are already divided into demographic and geographic locations. You can find them according to their interests and choices. This is a rather personal way of casting your message.

Digital marketing is more about narrow-casting, than broadcasting. This is a more personal way of reaching the clients. Email marketing has become so famous and popular. 30% of the products sold by Amazon comes from email marketing. That is a total of $3.2 billion. Now you can imagine how important digital marketing is for the companies.

People spend hours after hours on the internet. The same what they used to do with the TV some ten years ago. Today, TVs are just a piece of showcase item at home, or they use the TV to run the internet. Television ads are still ridiculously expensive and the return on investment are getting so low these days. But on the other hand, ads on the internet are just the opposite. This is a newbie in the market and you can reach millions of your audience with just a fraction of the amount of money you would have spent on the TV pieces.

Print ads are also getting obsolete. People view the online version of the magazines and the newspapers. Where there are not print ads. What exist there are online digital ads. The days of sending ads to the radio are over. People listen to the podcast of the already broadcasted radio pieces.

The TV is on the internet now. The online TV services are getting more and more popular as they skip the ads that was in the broadcast pieces. However, you can add your own ads beneath or sideways of the video. Again, whatever you are doing on the online TV services, they are all a part of digital marketing.
