One of the most important features to look at when shopping for a new vehicle is the overall safety; and the 2014 Ford Fusion has the safety upgrades you've been looking for.

The 2014 Ford Fusion comes with standard antilock brakes, plus stability and traction control, so you can always stay in control of your vehicle, regardless of the weather or other exterior conditions. These improvements can often be the difference between you maintaining control during inferior weather and potentially losing control and the car spinning out on a slick or icy roadway. The car comes with front head side airbags, front knee airbags and side curtain airbags. Essentially, in the event of an accident the car deploys the airbags, which in turn transforms the cabin into a complete bubble, as you and your passengers are protected from all angles. You never know when debris from an accident might cause serious damage and send bits of metal, glass and other material towards you. With these new airbags, you don't have to worry about this as much as it is going to protect you in this case of an accident.

The Ford Sync service, which is the technology behind the touchscreen panel in the dash control board of your vehicle, comes included with an emergency crash notification service that automatically calls 911 if you are ever in an accident. The system needs to be paired with your mobile cell phone. However, as soon as the vehicle detects you have been in an accident it is able to contact the authorities. Authorities are then able to identify your location through the Ford Sync GPS service and through your phone call. The MyKey feature, which is part of the Ford Sync service, also comes in handy, as it allows you to set up specific parameters for younger drivers. These can be parameters such as if you don't want them driving past a certain speed, if you don't want them driving at a certain time of day or other specifics, in order to keep them safe and so you know where they are at all times of the day or night.

There are additional features you can opt into, including blind-spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert, so if you are trying to merge with traffic in a different lane you are notified if there is another car in your blind spot, preventing you from merging. There is a driver drowsiness detection features and even a lane-departure warning, should you start to fall asleep and merge lanes, the vehicle informs you of this through noise and vibrations in the seats. You can also sprint for the collision warning that intervenes with a brake pressure from the vehicle itself, not to mention inflatable rear seat belts.

Overall, the government gave the 2014 Ford Fusion five out of five stars in crash protection, plus five out or five stars for frontal protection. The IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) gave the vehicle the highest rating of Good in frontal, side impact and roof strength tests. Stop by your local Ford dealer for a test drive today.
