Printing Web page content is one sure way to waste ink and along with that money. Because
Web pages have big images and usually don’t fit into a regular size paper you end up printing
unwanted text or images. Reason why this week’s printing tip talks about printing utilities
that will help you choose what you want to print along with saving your printer ink cartridge
or toner cartridge for a longer period of time.
Solid Ink, what is it?
Xerox offers a verified color printing technique called solid ink that uses solid sticks that
basically melt inside the printer. The ink is non-toxic and because it’s solid say good-bye
to leaks and carpet stains. The solid ink produces amazing results with the advantage of
being environmental friendly and cost-effective.
Its Advantages?
One of our qualities here at Notebookcity.co.nz is to be positive and look at the bright side
of everything so the following are the advantages when using Solid Ink Printers and ink
sticks:
1) The solid ink printing technology is based on offset printing principles. Due to that
solid ink printers can print out perfect quality and vivacious text and images.
2) Avoid printer nozzle blockage because ink sticks don’t leave any residue.
3) After warm up, solid ink printers are thought of in case of speed to be one of the fastest
printers in terms of first page out time as compared to other printers.
4) Environmentally friendly due to the fact that the ink sticks are manufactured using
vegetable oil. For that reason they are less prone to smearing and blurring which is the
common problem with Inkjet Printers and Laser Printers.
5) No cartridge, No waste! Since the inks are sold in the form of ink sticks, there is no
need for these to be placed inside a cartridge.
6) Use any type of paper and get the same excellent quality when using solid ink printers.
That is because they are less sensitive to paper thickness and paper fibers.
Its Disadvantages?
There is always a dark side to everything that shines and even though they get an A+ on
printing quality, speed and recycling there are disadvantages, here are some:
1) Very long warm up time. Usually solid ink printers take as long as 15 minutes to wait for
the printer to melt the solid ink sticks. If your in a hurry that is a very, very long time.
2) Do not tolerate movement. Solid Ink printers are very sensitive to movement because it is
melting the ink sticks, so make sure that during the printing process you don’t touch or move
the printer even just a bit.
3) Bad smell? Solid ink sticks are made of vegetable oils and have a waxy texture that
releases a particular odor while it is being melted not everyone tolerates certain odors.

The Future of Digital Media - No More Physical CopiesMay 15, 2011 - 2:37:06 AM The advent of the compact disc (CD), and later the digital versatile disc (DVD) were, at the times of their respective creation, were thought to be the end all and be all of media storage and playback. There have been other types of digital media designed for the mass market such as digital audio tapes (DAT's), mini disc's (MD's) to name but a couple of mediums that were at the time, touted as the next big thing to revolutionize how we stored, listened to and watched our digital media.
