Microsoft developed
Small
Business Server 2000 is helpful for the small and medium sized businesses.
This article will tell you, how to set up the Small Business Server (SBS) 2000
Shared Fax services on the server and on the
Small Business Server 2000
domain workstations.
The Fax Service is enabled after you
install a modem in a Windows 2000-based computer. This service must be disabled
because client-only service is not like the SBS Shared Fax service. You have to
follow these steps to disable this service:
Click on the Start, point to
Programs, click on the Administrative Tools and then click on the Services.
After this, right-click on the Fax Service and then click on Properties. Then,
under the Startup Type, click on Disabled and then click on OK.
After performing this, you have to
install the
Small Business Server 2000 Shared Fax Service. Follow these
steps for this task:
Click on Start, point to Settings
and then click on the Control Panel. Then you have to double-click on the
Add/Remove Programs. After this click on the Microsoft
Small Business Server
2000 and then click on Change/Remove. Then on the Microsoft Small Business
Server 2000 Setup Wizard page, click on Next. On the Product Identification
page, click on Next. After this you will view an Automatic Log on Information
page, click on the manually log on and then click on Next. Then on the Company
Information page, click on the Next. After this, on the Telephony Information
page, click on Next.
Then you will view a Domain Information page, click on Next on this page. On the Component Selection page, click on the Install action for the Microsoft Shared Fax component, then click on Next. After this on the Data Folders page, you can define the Fax Archive Root Directory. This folder is composed of the Activity Logs, Fax Queue and Sent Items. You can also change this folder location. For doing this, click on the Change Folder, click the new location and then click on the Next. After this, you can view the options taken by you on the Installation Summary screen. If you want to do any modifications, then click on Back, otherwise click on the Next. Then the wizard demands for the Microsoft Small Business Server 2000 disks 2 and 3. After the installation completes, and completing the Microsoft SBS 2000 Setup Wizard page appears, click on the Finish.
That's all finished up, your server is ready for sharing fax service. You can get more updates on Windows Server 2003
