Do you pay your credit card bills online? Are your credit card bills shooting up off-late? Are there any suspicious charges on them? If so, you need to check for signs on your computer to see if Spyware is the culprit. Spyware causes you to lose valuable personal information, so, here are a few signs that would determine the removal of spyware from your computer -
* When entering a keyword phrase in Internet Explorer's address bar, an unknown website starts the search.
* Expensive phone calls that you did not call appear on your phone bill.
* Your computer runs extremely slow. Windows 2000/XP users may experience an unfamiliar process using nearly 100 per cent of available CPU cycles.
* Your program that you normally use to remove spyware or other protective program ceases working properly. You may receive a warning that support files are missing, but any attempt to restore the files will fail. Your computer may respond by crashing.
* A new website shows up in your Favorites list without you putting it there. No attempt to delete it will work.
* Even though you are not on the internet, the activity lights on your modem blink just as when you're downloading a file or surfing the Web. Or the network/modem icon in your system tray flashes rapidly even when you're not using the connection.
* Any sort of toolbar appears without your knowledge. Attempts to remove it fail, or it comes back after removal.
* Pop-up ads appear on your system when your browser is not running or when not connected to the Internet. Some pop-up ads may address you by name.
* When launching your browser, your homepage has changed. Any attempt to change it, fails.
Spyware is dangerous due to the fact that it gathers your personal information by using the Internet without your consent. The most common way spyware invades your PC is by bundling itself with freeware or shareware programs. So, it is strongly advised not to download such programs or at the very least be careful of what you are downloading. Upon installation, the spyware program begins to monitor your computer and then transmits your sensitive data to users for their profit. If you are able to spot these signs then your next step should be Spyware Removal from your computer.
