The cause of diabetes used to be unknown. They thought that there was nothing that could be done about the onset of the disease. But as more people were diagnosed, doctors noticed that those with certain personality traits and genetic traits were a larger percentage of their diabetic patients. There is now a wealth of information on diabetes and its causes. The good news is that there are some diabetes causes that are completely under your control. In this article we will talk about some causes of diabetes that you can control (and some you cannot) and what you can do about them.
Does your doctor every make you aware of having high triglyceride levels in your blood? This is worrisome because high triglyceride levels are a major cause of Type 2 diabetes. Triglycerides are fats. Contracting fatty blood is a sign that diabetes is in the near future. Do what you can to cut down on the level of triglycerides that you find in your blood. A wonderful way to do this is to reduce the amount of sugary and junky foods you consume and replace them with healthier food choices.
Pregnancy is one of the causes of diabetes. Gestational diabetes is certainly not uncommon among pregnant women.
This is a condition that can last momentarily and be easily taken care of with a proper diet. Women who give birth to babies that weight upwards of nine pounds are also more likely to contract diabetes than those who have babies weighing below nine pounds. Sadly, there is little that can be done to limit the weight of your baby (and babies are now usually being born heavier and heavier every day). All pregnant women have testing done for gestational diabetes, so they won't have to worry about whether or not they may become afflicted with it and not knowing it. Your doctor will help you figure out how to control the disease if it takes hold while you are pregnant.
Do you eat a lot of foods that are high in fat? Halt, now! Diets that are high in fat content are a leading cause of diabetes. This is one of a great many reasons your physician will tell you to rid yourself of the fatty foods in your diet.
No matter what, fatty food is horrible for you. It can contribute to weight gain, high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels and now we know it causes diabetes as well. Snacking once in a while won't bring on the disease. Frequently consuming unhealthy meals, though, could be the biggest difference between being healthy and being a diabetic.
Diabetes is disease to administer. Some people are able to minister to it with their diet alone. We also know now that many diabetes causes are something we can manage.
It wasn't very long ago that doctors believed there were few things that could be done to prevent the disease. Now it is widely known that leading a healthy lifestyle can often be more than enough to keep the disease from taking hold in your body. If you have some questions about what you have read in this article, discuss it with your doctor..
