Most people will tell you that the greatest thing about working for themselves is that they don't have a boss. Technically they do, which is themselves, but not having another person to always tell them what to do is a great relief. Once you can make your own decisions and determine your daily behaviors on your, you can become much more efficient. It's no secret that several layers of management can make a company sluggish and lethargic, and not very productive. As your own boss, you can focus only on those things that directly impact your bottom line.

The second reason is that you get to make your own hours. Of course, this is a double edged sword. One of the benefits of working in some jobs is that when the whistle blows, you're finished. Working your own hours means you sometimes work much longer than you normally would at a standard nine to give, but something about working for yourself makes them much more preferable.

Another powerfully compelling reason to strike out on your own is the potential is virtually unlimited. Compared to your typical nine to five, where you may get an annual salary increase of a few percent, or maybe even a promotion every three or four years, working for yourself gives you the potential to earn incredible amounts of money. The fact that most millionaires in America got there through working their own business should be plenty motivation for you.

The last compelling reason to go into business for yourself is that you get to choose whatever niche you want to focus on. Instead of doing that repetitive, boring work at some company year after year, you can choose anything you please. This means you'll be much more productive, and get much more done. You are only limited by your imagination.

Of course, going into business for yourself isn't for everybody. But those that do can expect to be their own boss, work their own hours, and focus on any niche that interests them. If you are even remotely thinking about starting your own business, then you should get started right away.
