The game of chess is by many seen as a hard game. Seeing all those
different chess boards and pieces might leave an impact on you to think
this game is really complicated. Many people even approach this game
with fear because of its difficult rules.
You shouldn’t have
any reluctance when it comes to chess! In fact, it’s a very nice game
for those who seek mental stimulation. However, there are many people
who don’t appreciate the game because they feel overwhelmed with the
amount of rules and required strategies. Maybe you should consider
organizing your own private chess party, invite several friends or
relatives and have a blast - those people will definitely like chess
more afterwards.
Noble people in the old days used to play
chess at some exclusive parties and social events. During those days it
was even a must for a well raised gentleman to be skillful in playing
chess. During the past centuries chess pieces and chess boards went
only through a small change. Today, chess is no longer a significant
part of the social scene and it’s considered to be a more serious
“sport”.
Chess is no longer equated to fun, but something
that’s brain draining. These says, when people look for fun, they don’t
want to think. Not many actually consider thinking to be fun and it
reminds them of the times they spent in school, meaning – thinking is
boring.
This is very wrong because chess as a game doesn’t
have to be too serious and it certainly isn’t boring. Winning is just
one fun part of the chess game while the other part is pure analyzing
of your moves and the earlier played games. Analyzing things and making
up strategies to win the game doesn’t have to be a big difficult task,
although there are some people who have great difficulty in doing this.
There are people who cannot find the patience to play the game. You can
win over these negative game aspects if you simply make your chess
party more fun, pleasant and relaxed.
Your chess party
shouldn’t be about winning, it should be about having fun, so make your
friends aware of that. The party should be a time where your friends
can concentrate on the process of playing, as well as giving and
receiving constructive criticism. It will offer a better insight to all
chess enthusiasts when it comes to new moves and strategies while
boosting the feelings of people who were afraid of playing chess by
showing them how relaxed and fun this game can really be.
Foster open and free communication wherein you get to see your mistakes
and understand the strategies available for the game. To make your
chess event more fun you could decorate the premises with some “chess
motifs”. Have plenty of chessboards available so that people can play
without having to wait their turn. Guests can also bring their own
chessboards. Make sure the party stays fun and that your guests feel
comfortable. At some point they are “enemies” but still they should be
friendly and give positive critiques to each other.
