Breast augmentation surgery can increase your confidence and improve your quality of life by giving you the body you always wanted. Most routine breast enlargement surgeries will take as little as one hour. The procedure will be performed with the patient under a general anaesthetic and the incisions made to insert the implants will only leave small scars that soon will go away completely.
You should have a lot of questions to ask your surgeon. The first consultation will be the most important as you need to feel relaxed with your choice of surgeon since you need to be free to ask any questions regarding the procedure. Your surgeon should be able to give lots of advice and help if you are feeling doubts on what you want, as they will have years of experience.
There are a couple of implants you can choose from. This decision has to be discussed with your doctor so you can find the one that will suit you best. They can advice you on the pros and cons of each and the price range; you must feel that you have enough details to make an informed decision. Breast enlargement is considered a relatively safe procedure but in very rare cases things can go wrong. Be well informed of the risks before making the decision to proceed.
The shape and volume of the breast are of course important things to be discussed. Let your surgeon know if you have an idea of what you want. You have carefully consider when making this decision as your breasts should be in size and proportion to the rest of your body for making a good visual. The effect may otherwise look odd or all attention will go straight to your upper body area! For a more enhanced look, the space between the breasts can be altered.
Mostly people want their breasts to look as natural as they can. Make sure that the height, width and projection of your breasts are in balance with the rest of your body. You don’t want to have breasts that everyone can see are false.
Your skin around the area where you want to insert the implant must have some elasticity to it. If your surgeon feels that you are too thin and don’t have enough skin to stretch around the implant, he or she might not want to go through with the surgery in that specific area. If the skin is not elastic enough, the implant will have an unnatural appearance and feel to it. Existing breast tissue will also be a deciding factor on how large the implants can be.
After the surgery you will need to rest at home for at least a couple of days. You are not to drive or do anything too physical, including lifting and carrying. You will probably have to take some time off from your work to recuperate at home. After all, you have been undergoing a surgery, so take it very easy for the first month.
You will be given to wear a special support bra for about four to five weeks to provide stabilisation and prevent your breasts from moving around too much and causing pain. The use of the bra will also help reducing the swelling.
If you are planning on getting pregnant, you can breast feed is possible even after you have had a breast enlargement. The implants should last for your whole life but you should have them checked out every eight years or so.
Some people are frightened to undergo the surgery of a breast implant. The thought of the pain incurred is very intimidating, but also certain horror stories regarding the implants bursting have played their share to why people feel scared of this procedure. Many implants used these days are made from cohesive gel; they are of a very high quality and can’t leak or rupture.
Having breast augmentation surgery could be one of the most important decisions you make when it comes to decisions regarding your body. Therefore you must carefully decide the cosmetic surgeon. With all the facts in front of you, you will see it is a procedure that is extremely safe and common.
