Central heating system uses a simple technology which heats up your home or office and keeps you warm. The idea behind it is very simple; the central heating system has two important components. First one is the boiler which is generally fitted in a store room or kitchen or bathroom and another component is the radiator which is fitted in each room. The boiler heats up the water which is carried through all the radiators with the help of electric pumps which are fitted in the boiler.
Central heating radiators are the components which generally help in keeping your home warmer. But many people don’t know the technology behind this. So to help you know more about the radiators I am writing this article.
A hot water radiator is simply a copper pipe repeatedly bent at right angles to produce a heating surface with the maximum area. The heat pipes follow the ridged lines. Water enters and leaves through valves at the bottom. In the radiators cooper pipes are bent back and forth 10-20 times covering maximum surface to product more heat. The bigger radiators have more back and forth bents because they have larger surface area which can heat you the whole room.
The hot water which is pumped into the radiators from the central heating boiler pass through those cooper pipes, which heat up the outer steel surface of the radiator. When the steel surface gets heated up, that heat will help us warm the room in your house or office. Each radiator has a basic screw valve at the bottom which helps us to control the temperature of the radiator. When you turn this valve to off mode then the hot water from the main cooper pipe will bypass it flow in the radiator without entering into the back forth bents in it. This will result in cooling down the radiator and cooling down the cool.
Many people think that switching off the radiators will help them reduce their fuel bills, but its wrong. When you switch off the radiator the water flow will not stop and the boiler will be running. So next time if you want to save your gas and electricity bills always switch off the boiler not radiators.
