If you thought an online business venture is all about traffic generation, you are sadly mistaken. True, traffic is of utmost importance, but what helps your business grow is the amount of converted traffic you have. To have a high conversion rate, the first thing you ought to do is keep the visitor on the site for as long as possible. The longer he/she stays, the better are the chances that he/she will buy your services and product.
Paraphrasing it, you need to increase engagement and stickiness on websites.Though similar sounding, engagement and stickiness are two completely different things. Stickiness is the amount of time a user stays on a website whereas engagement is the amount of time the user is engaged on the website. For example- Google has high engagement and low stickiness. You need to have a fine balance between the two for your website or blog to be successful. One of the best ways for increasing engagement on websites to give the user a say in the running of things.
This can be in the form of feedback or forums, where people interact with each other and discuss the various issues related with a product or website. Another technique for increasing engagement on websites which is still in its nascent stage but fast becoming a rage is the use of website reviews. User generated reviews lend credibilty to a website while making the user feel part of the story. All you have to do is submit your website to a website review blog or site and let the users do the rest. Even if you get bad press, it is still useful to you because one, it generates publicity for you (as they say, any PR is good PR) and two, it helps you identify the problems plaguing your website. Apart from this, a very easy and cost effective way for increasing user engagement on websites is to use some pertinent Wordpress plugins.
A very useful plugin in this regardis the Similar Posts. Similar Posts lists threads and posts which are related to the one the user is currently viewing. Another plugin that helps a great deal in enhancing user interactivity is the WP Greet Box. Greet Box identifies which site the user came from and displays a relevant greeting. There are many such Wordpress plugins which help you in augmenting user interactivity, thereby increasing engagement on websites. Make sure to check them out and do not forget to thank me for this article. Oh, this is another way to increase engagement.
