According to a recent study, there’s an estimate of 400 billion dollars worth of unclaimed money in the United States alone. And the case is the same with other countries like Texas, which holds one of the biggest amount of unclaimed cash and properties. Reports even confirm that the worth continues to mount up as new records were found.

Unclaimed money in Texas

Last year, several agencies in Texas have announced that they have found thousands and millions worth of unclaimed cash and properties in their records. Most of these frozen assets were retrieved from forgotten bank accounts, undelivered checks, security deposits and utility refunds.

According to the report from NBC, the Texas State Comptroller has enlisted names of owners of unclaimed Texas money, either from refunds, undelivered checks or cash left in a will. While most of the owners are individual citizens, there are also businesses and institutions listed.

The Texan Comptroller Susan Combs also affirms an eager return of these unclaimed Texas money or property to their rightful owners. The government broadcasted their attempts to return all of these assets as soon as possible.

As of the moment, the government holds at least 2 billion dollars worth. The numbers grow as they uncover more records.
