You can’t have a cricket match without cricket balls and therefore this piece of equipment is an indispensible part of the game. To the untrained eye, it may seem as though the balls used in a cricket match have not changed much over the history of the game but whilst the look remains the same, technology has definitely advanced. The style of stitching and the materials used in the production of the balls ensures that there is something for everyone, from traditionalists to new fans, and it is possible to find a ball that suits your (or your teams) style of play perfectly. There are also a wide range of prices available which should ensure that every budget is catered for, ensuring that cricket can be enjoyed by everyone which can only be good for the long term development of the game.
Although different firms and companies provide their own cricket balls, the rules of the game clearly states the conditions and characteristics of the ball for any professional match. Any reputable dealer will be able to inform a consumer of what balls are considered available for match day use and this may have an impact on what type of ball a consumer wishes to purchase. If the ball is to be used for fun, any of the cricket balls available on the market can be used but if it will be used in match conditions, it is important to ensure that the requirements of the ball meet the standards set.
A key reason for the rise in popularity of cricket in recent times has been the Twenty20 tournament. It may also appear easier to arrange a quick match using the rules and layouts of the Twenty20 game, meaning that people may be more likely to buy the kit and equipment that is associated with the game. It is apparent that one of the things that really stands out in the Twenty20 game is the bright coloured kit and uniforms worn by the players but this also transfers to the cricket balls used in the match. These balls come in different shades and this is very eye-catching and means that many people are looking to but this style of ball as opposed to the more traditional red ball that is associated with the sport.
It is also very true to say that cricket is becoming a popular female sport and again, specialist cricket balls designed with the female market in mind is available and this could be of benefit to any budding girls out there. Anything which encourages more people into the sport is a good move and female cricket is as exciting and as interesting as the male equivalent, so it is good to know that their needs and demands are being catered for as much as the existing male market. Equally, there are now different forms of cricket being introduced for children in order to welcome a younger age group of fans and players to the game. Similarly, different size balls and equipment are available to ensure that players of all ages and sizes are comfortable with playing and this should lead to a greater number of adults playing the sport in the future.
