Do You Know If Your Date Has A Criminal History?

You read about it all the time in the newspapers. Someone has gone out on a date and found out the hard way that some people are not who they seem. Maybe you meet someone and they seem great, only to find a few months later that actually they have a criminal history and now that violence is being aimed at you.

Modern times have brought with it modern problems. More and more people seem to be spending a disproportionate amount of their time working, leaving themselves with less leisure time. Less time to go out doing the things they like to do to relax, less time to spend meeting new people, leaving less chances to develop new relationships and meet a potential mate.

Leslie Durham from New York is single, late twenties, has a good job and would be considered by most to be attractive. Then why is it that she hasn’t had a ‘date’ in almost one and a half years? Leslie says “I leave for work at 7am, five days a week, and get home between 8pm and 9pm. I’m usually so exhausted I grab a quick bite to eat, watch something on TV and fall asleep on the sofa by about 11pm. On Saturday mornings I help out at a nearby hostel and Sundays need to get up early to make the trip to see my parents.”

This doesn’t leave much time for going out and socializing. Leslie added “Sometimes I have a day off, or my parents are away so I am able to go out with friends the night before”. There’s a small chance I might meet someone who I hit it off with and if he likes me then maybe, just maybe, he’ll ask me out on a date.

The numbers speak for themselves. If Leslie hasn’t had a date in a year and a half, then she needs to either go out more often or take bigger chances with those she does meet.

Therein lies the problem. If Leslie starts taking bigger risks with the men she does meet, then one of these days she may take too big of a risk and end up in trouble.

It’s not just people like Leslie who are at risk. Anyone meeting a new potential partner is taking some sort of risk. Who is the person you are seeing? Are they really who they say they are?

Modern times lead to modern problems. Perhaps something that was considered unacceptable a few decades ago is now acceptable by modern standards. For example people like to create a personification of themselves, outwardly being something they are not on the inside. Harmless enough maybe, except when the real person inside is more sinister.

Stories from the dating ‘war front’ include more and more examples of where the person you are developing a relationship with turns bad after a few weeks or months of dating, making it close to impossible (or potentially dangerous) for you to break away from the relationship.

Maybe it turns out that this outwardly kind thoughtful person actually had a criminal record for some violent crimes, or perhaps they are a convicted pedophile and you have been leaving him alone with your kids as your relationship moved forwards.

As the truth about your new partner emerges from behind the sweet kind personality of the person you started dating, you start wondering why you even started seeing them in the first place.

What if you could somehow learn more about the your new date before you started getting serious or promising a commitment?

Recent reports suggest about 30% of all online searches nowadays are about people. You can find out if the person you are researching has been mentioned on some website somewhere, which means you may find out a little more about them, what they do or their associations.

You can’t however, find out anything more in-depth, such as whether they have a criminal history or equally important, if they are who they say they are, unless you go to the paid search providers.

Save yourself a lot of time and trouble and check your date before making any commitments, or if you do any online dating then do an online dating background check first. Search White Pages provides all types of people records.

Getting over a relationship isn't as simple as 1, 2, 3...

It's said that for every month you date someone it will take you a week to get over them. So if you were with someone for a year, you'd need three months before the heartache of a break-up subsided. I'm not sure who came up with this formula. It's hardly scientific. But it's something I always keep in mind - not because I believe it's accurate, but because it's nice to have a time frame to work with.... [Read the full story]
