While getting a website is an important step the things do not really end there. There are millions of websites on Internet clamoring for people's attention. The most effective way to get traffic is from search engines like Google & Bing when people search for product, services or information related to your business. Content is king: I know this sounds clichéd, but is the truth. Over the years, I have seen many websites with solid content towering above other websites. There can be many reasons. Google and other search engines appreciate good, informative and unique content. Other reason is that unique and interesting content attracts other websites. Webmasters and bloggers often cite excerpts from websites with informative content and link back. This automatically increases inbound links which is so crucial for Google while calculating a website's worth. Good SEOcontent writing gets traffic from back links as well as from good positions in search engines.

Relevant Keywords: A website should have keywords relevant to its content and business so that it can rank on search engines. Keywords placed at appropriate places and with correct density can ensure that search engines associate your website with the relevant keywords. If you are selling Halloween costumes then keywords related to Halloween should be placed in the title tags of all pages and in the content. Search engine robots will glean information from your website and deduced that your website is about Halloween costumes and rank you accordingly.

Directory Submission: An old and much abused trick but still relevant. Whatever, SEO consultants may declare; directory submission is still important step for brand new website. Directory submission ensures free one way links and induces Google bots to crawl your website more regularly. Do this at least when your website is new.

Article submission: Article submission is perhaps the most important activity. It costs nothing but few hours to write good article and submit it to top article directories. Your website get not only steady stream of traffic from articles but also high value backlinks from content rich sites.
