How Microsoft Dynamic CRM Addresses User's Needs?

Microsoft CRM 2011 possesses some of the best capabilities and it can be at times tedious to figure out which capabilities addresses the user's needs accurately. There can undoubtedly be different scenarios and here a particular scenario is being highlighted and shown how Connections capability comes to the rescue and provides the desired answer.

Microsoft CRM 2011 possesses some of the best capabilities and it can be at times tedious to figure out which capabilities addresses the user's needs accurately. There can undoubtedly be different scenarios and here a particular scenario is being highlighted and shown how Connections capability comes to the rescue and provides the desired answer.

An Instance: The scenario or instance is where two or more sales representatives depict the need to collaborate on a particular opportunity. In order to collaborate successfully, they usually have to face a couple of challenges such as:

==> How to figure the sale reps working on this particular opportunity?
==> How to simplify the process for them to view the opportunities?

There are a number of approaches that one can adopt depending on the various parameters but there are no guarantees on how flexible it would be because in certain static cases, these approaches might work, but there will confusion if the requirements are flexible. In such a scenario it is better to utilize the Connections capability that is part of Microsoft dynamic CRM.

Connections

Connections as a feature was added in CRM 2011 and this particular feature basically allow users to connect together records of all kinds. For instance, a user can identify a contact as 'colleague' or even specify the roles of different contacts that may be associated to a particular opportunity such as decision maker or influencer. The two questions asked above can be answered in the following manner:

Sales team identification

From the tab called Opportunity under Microsoft dynamic CRM click on the Connect button. Then the desired user for the 'Name' field has to be filled. Once it is saved, the process is completed and it is so simple to identify the user. It is also possible to go one step further and define the various Connection Roles too in order to depict the role each sales person is playing. In order to add connection roles, click on Connection Roles under Administration, which falls under Settings.

How to establish a perfect view through Microsoft dynamic CRM for opportunities?

Once the sales reps have been denoted, the next step is to ensure that the Public view features all the opportunities. The following steps need to be followed to create the Public View and they include:

Click on Settings->Customization->Customize the System and then select the Opportunity entity.

The second step is to open the 'My Open Opportunities' Public View and then click on Save As to make a copy of the view.

The third step is to modify the filter criteria in CRM Integration by removing the 'Owner Equals Current User' clause, it is important that the Opportunity Status Equals is kept open. Then the clauses to locate the Active Connections to the current user are added.

Finally it is important to mark this new Public view as the default view by selecting 'Set Default' from the More Actions menu for the various lists of views that are present. In this manner the users will be able to view by default the desired records.

The Connections capability as part of Microsoft Dynamic CRM offers a flexible way of creating the pursuit team and expanding the number of users when required.
