Long holidays are difficult to prepare for sometimes, as you need to keep luggage to a minimum, and money to a maximum. Both seemingly impossible feats. Below are some holiday tips to help you on your way.
The Longest Journey Starts With A Single Step
By carefully planning every aspect of your long holiday, you can make sure that everything goes to plan.
We are all forgetful at the best of times, so a good while before your holiday, make sure to write down anything that pops into your head that you may need to bring. Chances are if you tell yourself you’re going to do it later, you might forget, and end up kicking yourself when it’s too late.
Before you pack, make up a list of everything you want and need to bring. If you cannot bring much luggage, begin to strike off your list the things you can do without, or might be able to buy cheaply when you have reached your destination. This will mean you won’t have to risk carrying heavy bags or having to pay extra charges for heavy baggage to the airline.
Remember, before you leave the home to make your journey, make sure it is left safe. Ensure all electrical appliances are plugged out, and windows and doors locked. You can even ask a friend to pop in or drive by every few days to make sure that the property is safe from intruders.
It is also important to make provisions for family members or pets who will not be coming with you. Pets can be left in kennels or catteries, or with minders for a reasonable price, but these need to be booked well in advance, as particularly in the summer months they fill up.
Hindsight is always twenty-twenty
Make sure you have your trip planned on a cohesive itinerary, with all the details and contact numbers you may need. When you have reached your destination, it is more than likely too late to remedy any mistakes you may have made, and you do not want to regret not having planned your holiday properly.
Keep with you a diary with all the details, as well as maps and pictures, of the places you are meant to be seeing and staying. This way you will not find yourself wasting time with nothing to do, or lost because you did not prepare properly.
It is also a good idea to change your money when the exchange rate is favourable, and definitely avoid changing your money at the airport where they don’t give great rates, as well as charging a high commission.
By doing as much as you can in advance of your holiday, you can save money by not having to pay last minute costs, for example getting taxis if you did not leave enough time to make a journey. This will mean overall you can enjoy your holiday without any stress or worries.
Do plan well in advance keeping these holiday tips in mind and experience the best holiday of your life.
