The main purpose of developing and uploading a website on the world wide web is of generating traffic which will eventually result in sales, revenue and profits for the company. Having the best of websites without having any traffic is more like having a fully decked up bride about whom no prospective groom is aware of.

Hence, traffic is the most important thing for a website and towards this objective the important of a good SEO campaign cannot be understated. However, while undertaking such SEO campaigns there are some common mistakes which many people make in the basic design of their websites which costs them dearly in terms of hits and visits to their websites. Let us over the next few lines try and see some the common mistakes that should be avoided.

First and foremost choice of keywords while building the website is extremely important. Choosing the wrong keywords and then trying to build an SEO campaign revolving around such wrongly chosen keywords. Another common mistake that people make while designing a business web design is the fact that they try to optimize a single page for too many keywords.

It would be better to spread out the key words evenly amongst the various rather than having all the keywords stuffed into one or two pages. This is not a good strategy and any good web design company would concur on this particular point.

Another important point to be noted is not to make a website that is based on flash-based content. The emergency of HTML 5 is slowly seeing the demise of Flash. Though there are still some custom web designing companies who place their trust on Flash, looking into the long term it is best avoided. There is one more major mistake many website developers make and this later becomes a stumbling block when SEO campaigns are run. The mistake is to duplicate content from other websites. This is an unpardonable mistake which is bound to bring even the best SEO campaigns to zero.

Hiding content in images is still being followed by some web application development companies and that should be avoided, if your website is to feature high in the search engine rankings. Selection of the right keywords which is relevant to the website and the product or service it is promoting is extremely important. Wrong choice of keywords again is a major mistake which many website developers often make.
