Gone are the days of everyone being restricted to home internet use.  Computers whether they are desk based or laptop or notebooks are forever reducing in one way or another.  Computer screens are no longer the great big monitors similar to your Television set and laptops or notebooks are getting smaller and smaller almost on a daily basis.  Along with these innovations in the sizes of the computer information comes along improvements in hardware both for the computer function but in internet hardware as well.

Laptops or notebooks are often coming with internet hardware installed.  Not all have this function and many of the laptops are often designed not to include internet hardware cards.  Most people who are using a laptop are wanting to be able to connect to any available signal and therefore the wireless internet card options is a more popular component and requirement for users.

You will find that wherever you go now you are more and more often seeing notification of wireless internet options being made available.  Hotels, coffee shops, restaurants and other public arenas are often offering wireless internet options and the areas you can find wireless internet are increasing daily.

When you are dealing with wireless internet connections you need to ensure, that if you are to install this yourself as it is not included in your laptop, that you are purchasing the correct wireless internet hardware.  You need to make sure that the hardware you purchase is compatible with your other computer components.  Such as your network cards and wireless router and all should include the relevant compatibility information when you are looking at what products to purchase.  If you are not sure you need to go to a computer specialty shop and request their assistance.  If it is the laptop you wish to upgrade then make sure you take it with you to get the best answers to any questions you may have regarding compatibility.

When you are purchasing internet hardware online the company you purchase from should provide information regarding the compatibility issues for each product.  They should also give you frequently answered questions and even tips for problem solving should you have problems when installing your internet hardware.  Wherever you purchase from make sure they are offering you some after service assistance and that could if all else fail take the items back or send them back to wherever they were purchased from.

There are some standard issues with installation of wireless Internet hardware and the connectivity issues that arise.  Before you contact anyone for after sales assistance make sure you have checked the cables to make sure there are no disconnected cables or loose cables.  Also ensure you have checked the power supply before calling.  Make sure that when you believe you have exhausted all options that you shut down your computer or laptop and then re-start and check if the problem still exists.  This is likely to be the first question apart from if you have the power on, that you will be asked when calling for after sales assistance.  To avoid the embarrassment do a quick check of these things yourself before calling.

Likewise you have some assistance with your hardware itself in that there are indicator lights that can show problems with connectivity.  If there are lights flashing or not displayed at all there may be a connection problem.  Again before calling for assistance shut down the router, wait a few minutes then turn everything back on and see if this has resolved the connection issues.  When you find that there is indeed a problem with the hardware itself you need to ensure you notify the supplier and arrange to have the item sent or returned and generally you will be supplied a replacement.  However if they check the modem and find that there is no problem then you may need to call in further help from a professional.
