The Honda Single Stage Snowblower series is the perfect solution for the removal of lighter snow accumulations, with clearing rates of up to 55 tons per hour and a dispersal distance of up to 26 feet. When operated for maximum efficiency, these snowblowers can make quick work of clearing driveways, sidewalks, and other flat areas where snow needs to be removed.
Here are six tips on maximizing the efficiency of your Honda snowblower:
1) Take your snowblower for a quick test drive prior to use – A snowblower can propel itself as long as the augers remain in contact with the hard surface under the snow. If that contact is lost, you’ll end up pushing your snowblower around, an unnecessary waste of your energy. Get a feel for keeping the augers on the ground and let the machine do the work.
2) Be consistent about removing snow – Honda Single Stage snowblowers perform best with snow accumulations of less than 12 inches. Once the snow gets much deeper than that, you’ll have an increasingly difficult time keeping the augers on the ground which will require more work from you.
3) Think about where snow is going to be discharged – You’ll want to avoid discharging snow on areas that have already been cleared as well as the areas you haven’t cleared yet. Making this mistake in either circumstance just makes for more work and a longer time doing the job.
4) Let the elements help you – As much as possible, throw snow with the wind. This will prevent it from blowing back on the job site where it will have to be removed a second time.
5) Clear an area to make turns – A previously cleared area will provide a place to make easy turns and can also give you a break if you’re working a big job.
6) If drifts have accumulated, work around the base first – Chipping away at the base will allow the machine to do the work as opposed to you doing it. As the snow breaks down remove it and keep chipping away.
The Honda Single Stage snowblowers (model HS520) have a clearing width of 20 inches to make quick work of residential and commercial snow removal jobs.
