Substantial growth in testing orders and in the number of employees processing the workload prompted the promotion of long-term n
ondestructive testing employees to supervisory positions at Laboratory Testing Inc. (LTI). The Nondestructive Testing Department is made up of five key service areas - ultrasonic testing, magnetic particle inspection, liquid penetrant inspection, X-ray inspection and hydrostatic pressure testing. Due to the company’s growth, and the promotion of the Nondestructive Testing Department’s previous supervisor, Rich Goodwin, to Nondestructive Testing Manager, a supervisor was appointed in each of these growing areas to oversee staff scheduling, order processing, quality control and supply management. All five of the new supervisors are long-time employees of Laboratory Testing Inc. who began their careers in the Nondestructive Testing Department.
Steve Walmsley of Souderton, an 18-year employee and NDT Level 2 in UT, was named Ultrasonic Testing (UT) Supervisor. He directs high-speed immersion inspection for round material as narrow as 1/8 in. and as long as 75 ft. and for oversized material up to 20 ft. long and a weight of 5000 lbs., as well as contact inspection for other materials.
Rick Stuart of Warminster has been with LTI since March 1991 and was appointed Magnetic Particle Supervisor. Both visible dry and fluorescent wet inspections are performed by his staff on products up to 12 ft. long. Stuart holds NDT Level II certification in magnetic particle, liquid penetrant and visual inspections.
Liquid Penetrant Supervisor, Don Meyers, is a 14-year employee and resident of Allentown. He oversees fluorescent and visible dye inspections for products up to 40 ft. long and visual inspections. Meyers is NDT Level II certified in liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, X-ray and visual inspections.
Hydro Supervisor, Zach Byers of Quakertown, has been employed by Laboratory Testing for 10 years. He is NDT Level II certified in liquid penetrant, X-ray and visual inspections and coordinates the orders for hydrostatic pressure testing up to the laboratory’s limit of 10,000 PSI.
X-ray Supervisor, Kevin Burton of Souderton, joined LTI in April 2000 and is certified to NDT Level III in X-ray inspection and NDT Level II for visual inspection. He is responsible for overseeing all orders that are processed in LTI’s 20 ft. x 20 ft. radiography room.
